As a concept, Russian Roulette has long intrigued me — the nerve, the machismo, the sheer finality of it all. It's all so typically... male! Add to this the kiddie dynamic, and how they sometimes seem to exist just to emulate their elders, substitute bullets for fruit, bring to a boil, and voila. Does it succeed? I guess that's up to you.

Fantasy — while not my genre of choice, nor my comfort zone — is a great area for experimentation. You can effectively do whatever the hell you want and everybody else be damned. It's just fun to be able to throw out the rule book, spit in the face of convention, and create your own reality, as long as you understand the boundaries therein. I think it is this unreality that makes this story fun and — hopefully — gives it a sense of place.

Of course, there is an underlying template that these characters exist in a hyper-allergic world, and if you can accept this, I believe it is quite an enjoyable ride.

To these kids, in their world, a grape can kill ya...
